Juror: Libby is guilty, but he was fall guy.»

Jurors in Scooter Libby’s trial “were certain of the former vice presidential aide’s guilt, but they also harbored sympathy for him as a ‘fall guy,’ one of them said Tuesday after the verdict.” Juror Denis Collins told reporters, “It was said a number of times, ‘What are we doing with this guy here? Where’s [Karl] Rove … where are these other guys?‘”

UPDATE: Jane Hamsher talks to a Libby juror.

    Huh?

This “fool” seems to have a good grasp on the chain of command and who gave the orders.

  5. Patrick1 Says:

Then he knows more than Fitzpatrick, who didn’t indict anyone for outing Plame, because there was no underlying criminal act. You can’t out someone who is on the cover of magazines.

My advice to the trolls is try being an individual for once in your life, its not heroic to put out a flaming bag of sh*t with your face.

Question P1, what was Plame working on in the CIA? Answer, the nuke possibilities in Iran.

Brilliant move on your idols. Expose somebody whose working on a real threat to cover up the attack on the fake threat.

I’ll ignore him until he makes me laugh again. He’s just so darn stupid it’s funny.

  12. Wayne Says:

Patrick starfish, keep posting for the world to see how stupid you neocon morons are.

    Fact, Plame was under cover
Fact, when she was outed, the whole CIA cover company Brewster & Jennings had their cover blown.
Fact, this endangered the lives of notonly Plame, but every CIA agent using Brewster & Jennings as a cover.
Fact, destroying Brewster & Jennings as a cover company destroyed the CIA’s ability to keep a watch on nuclear weapon capabilities of other countries.

    Patrick1 is a total moron

Correction for the critical thinking impared:

Fitz felt that there wasn’t enough evidence to indict. It doesn’t mean it didn’t exist and that Rove and/or Cheney aren’t guilty…. After all, Libby couldn’t have known this classified information on his own.

  15. mandolin Says:

This was a perjury trial. How was Libby the fall guy in a perjury trial?Either he lied under oath or he did not. Obvoiusly this Juror didn’t bother learning what the Mr. Libby was being charged with.

  21. ForTruth Says:

Fitzpatrick, who didn’t indict anyone for outing Plame, because there was no underlying criminal act.
    Comment by Turntrick1

Due to the outing being a conspiracy, it made it too difficult to gather enough evidence. That’s the benifit of a conspiracy. The other benifit is that people who use the word, are easily placed in a fringe category.

Outing Plame was a conspiracy, and they did a pretty good job of covering the evidence.

If I only had a nickel for every newly released rightarded talking point.

    Comment by mandolin — March 6, 2007 @ 5:48 pm

It wasn’t just perjury… There were other counts.

“Libby was convicted of one count of obstruction, two counts of perjury and one count of lying to the FBI about how he learned Plame’s identity and whom he told. Prosecutors said he learned about Plame from Cheney and others, discussed her name with reporters and, fearing prosecution, made up a story to make those discussions seem innocuous.”

    (Seattle Times)

  24. ForTruth Says:

Don’t let Turntrick1 take away today’s thunder, that what he wants.

  25. veritas Says:

Guess Cheney will develop another DVT in his other leg now? Medical leave perhaps vs. jumpsuit time? And where are the other thugs involved in all of this like Rove….like Bush himself?? Coming to Scooter’s aid? Not a chance! They’ll ditch him like the plague and hang him out to dry when they were all involved…..very, very involved. I’d like to see Fitzgerald convene another grand jury and investigate Cheney’s illegal role in all of this now that this trial is over. Certainly, there’s enough evidence under oath to indict him now as well.

  26. Crazy Eddie Says:

    Whaboomp!

    Whaboomp!

    Cheney,”What was that noise?”

  29. veritas Says:

I’ve heard through the grapevile (heh) at the GOP that the paid trolls will be hitting the threads tonight like crazy trying to hijack the conversation about this capricious, corrupt administration. Do not allow them one moment’s time - this is time for all patriotic americans to dance in the streets~! Just has been served and the “unofficial impeachment of this administration” is definitely something to revel about - let the celebrating begin as justice was finally (for the first time in 6 long years of lies) served today! Kudos to the jury! Mucho Kudos to Fitzgerald for having the chutzpah to tackle these thugs and to bring them to justice (even though I’ve heard that he’s a Rethug himself!). I guess it’s really significant when they begin to eat their own - when the level of contempt at overt corruption can no longer be ignored.

  30. veritas Says:

The outing of Plame was nothing more than a dispicable “cosa nostra” tactic (pretty antiquated, in fact) that, if the individual who’s burning you can’t be taken care of due to high visibility, then you go after his squeeze….or his kids. New twist on an old, tired plot - nevertheless, hitting below the belt and totally criminal. I guess it could easily be said that the Bush Cabal is the modern Cosa Nostra Redux.

  52. Marie Says:

OMG, the rightwingnuts are going crazy. They couldn’t be more hysterical if Bush or Cheney himself were found guilty.

While I doubted the guilty outcome as days went by, I am comforted to a degree that someone has been found guilty in the Plame affair - even if it is C-of-Staff Libby for lying.

I think we can be validated by the fact that the jury has said that after reviewing facts, timeline and testimony, they believe Libby was the fall guy (no less guilty, however) and they believe that the more guilty people were not on trial.

If we all wrote our congressmen and senators, I wonder if impeachment of Bush/Cheney would be more possible.

Although, I suspect that Cheney will not serve out his full term as VP - he will be too “ill”.

  53. Marie Says:

P1 is so wrong - he has so mixed up facts (even the photo in Vanity Fair which was AFTER she had been exposed and no longer useful as a covert agent) and he has rewritten the entire case to suit his mistaken argument, I think it would be futile to try to explain to him (for the 1,000th time) how wrong he is. Best we just ignore him.

  54. smafdy Says:

    from Wikipedia:

Under RICO, a person or group who commits any two of 35 crimes—27 federal crimes and 8 state crimes—within a 10-year period and, in the opinion of the United States Attorney bringing the case, has committed those crimes with similar purpose or results can be charged with racketeering. Those found guilty of racketeering can be fined up to $25,000 and/or sentenced to 20 years in prison. In addition, the racketeer must forfeit all ill-gotten gains and interest in any business gained through a pattern of “racketeering activity.” The act also contains a civil component that allows plaintiffs to sue for triple damages.
When the U.S. Attorney decides to indict someone under RICO, he has the option of seeking a pre-trial restraining order or injunction to prevent the transfer of potentially forfeitable property, as well as require the defendant to put up a performance bond.
There is also a provision for private parties to sue. A “person damaged in his business or property” can sue one or more “racketeers.” There must also be an “enterprise.” The defendant(s) are not the enterprise, in other words, the defendant(s) and the enterprise are not one and the same. There must be one of four specified relationships between the defendant(s) and the enterprise. This lawsuit, like all Federal civil lawsuits, can take place in either Federal or State court. http://www.dealer-magazine.com/index.asp?article=481
    [edit]RICO offenses and definitions

    Racketeering activity means:
    Any act or threat involving gambling, murder, kidnapping, arson, robbery, bribery, extortion, dealing in obscene matter, or dealing in a controlled substance or listed chemical (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act), which is chargeable under State law and punishable by imprisonment for more than one year;

Any act which is indictable under a wide variety of specific provisions of title 18 of the United States Code relating to bribery, counterfeiting, theft, embezzlement, fraud, obscene matter, obstruction of justice, slavery, racketeering, gambling, money laundering, commission of murder-for-hire, etc.

(Now) Redeploy DUHbya, The Dick, and Killer Karl, et al, to Leavenworth to clean up the “Scooters” corner before he arrives. (Now + 1) Redeploy all the rest of Bushco to the local Trashco (aka jail, prison, lockup, dungeon, cell, pound, detention house, guardhouse, boobyhatch, calaboose, panopticon, etc).
(Now + 2) Redeploy the mouths of the other Rethug Pugs to a position where anything spoken but the truth will result in a seriously bitten tongue (This must be done after this first redeployment or the three stooges may suffer some serious manhood problems.)
(Now + 3) Redeploy the true Citizens of this Country to the position they rightfully own–The Boss!
(Now + 5) Redeploy all politicians that do not recognize “The Boss” to the unemployment line.

That should clear up things for awhile.
