Yesterday, the Competitive Enterprise Institute – a front group funded by ExxonMobil and other big oil companies – launched two advertisements in response to Al Gore’s new movie, An Inconvenient Truth.
The first ad portrays global warming science as a vicious smear campaign against carbon dioxide. The ad, which despite appearances is not an SNL parody, helpfully reminds us that carbon dioxide is “essential to life” because “we breath it out.”
It’s comforting to know that this is the best global warming rejectionists can come up with. There are plenty of things that are healthy and essential in reasonable quantities but harmful in extremely large quantities. (For example, drinking a few glasses of water is beneficial. Drinking 10 gallons of water can kill you.) We need some carbon dioxide, but too much causes global warming.
The second ad repeats the “carbon dixoide is our friend” theme but adds a new wrinkle. It attempts to show that the scientific evidence for global warming is in dispute, claiming a study found “Greenland’s glaciers are growing.” (Watch the second ad HERE)
Actually, the study (by Johanessen et al.) found that there was an increase in snow accumulation on Greenland’s interior. Meanwhile, other studies show that glaciers are thinning on Greenland’s coastal regions. This is exactly what you’d expect as the earth gets warmer. The climate scientists at realclimate.org explain:
However, Johanessen et al. were not able to measure all of the coastal ranges. Indeed, the thinning of the margins and growth in the interior Greenland is an expected response to increased temperatures and more precipitation in a warmer climate. These results present no contradiction to the accelerated sliding near the coasts
Expect more of this kind of deception from the right as An Inconvient Truth hits theaters on May 24.
After seeing ‘The Corporation’, I began to look at nearly all corporate advertising in a different, ‘they are a relentlessly, brutally greedy machine’ kind of way.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:18 amLol. It does sound like a SNL parody.
People do breath out carbon dioxide. What the ad doesn’t address is that CO2 is taken in by plant life and trees and then they produce more oxygen. However, as mentioned, we are pumping way more CO2 into the atmosphere than plants have the ability to process….so it just builds up and up. Add to that the fact that we continue to detroy naturla forrests all around the globe such as the rainforest, etc. and not only are we building dangerous levels of CO2 in the atmosphere but we are essentially destroying natures “filters” at the same time.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:26 amWanted to add we can always STOP using fossil fuels for our energy/cars/etc…but we can’t just stop breathing. A second error in the ad.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:28 amUntil corporations, big corporations can figure out a way to make clean air pay big dividends, they will continue to derride any attempt to remedy the current ecological problems. Here in Texas a lot of wind turbans have sprung up in the windy wester part of our state. At least one corporation “gets it”. The others will continue to value profit over the public good until they all die fron the same choaking air that we breath or we pass some knid of legislation that requires corporations to be good citizens or loose their ability to do business. We do this with the broadcasters and it seems to work most of the time.

Fallacious logic has clearly become the new trend in our culture. And as long as they flash it on teh idiot box in 20 second sound bytes, the consummers will buy it up.
People want to talk about ‘evil’? Well, this is it. Gluttons who are so megalomaniacal that they don’t care if they are hurting anyone or anything else - including themselves. As long as there’s a dime in it for them, that’s all that matters.

Only if they can get you to pay for it. It’s all about profits with these whores.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:35 amunbelievable
Frankly, this all sounds an awful lot like my countries current (yes they did indeed bring the idiot back) VP on AIDS. I just wonder when they are going to say something stupid like “We don’t cause pollution because after spewing so much junk into the air, we all took showers.”
May 18th, 2006 at 10:36 amCO2 is healthy because we breath it out? Are they now suggesting I drink my urine and eat my feces?
That comment gets a hearty laugh from me.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:37 amThis reminds me of Michael Crichton. Anybody read his thriller about environmentalist terrorism? I did last fall. Makes you sick.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:39 amso what is our response?
of course, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ will be a pretty strong response on its own. but maybe there ought to be some responses on TV. right? what can we do to make sure that these outrageous untruths don’t go unchallenged?
May 18th, 2006 at 10:39 amThis is very helpful:
carbon dioxide is “essential to life†because “we breath it out.â€
Now I can see the benefit in things I didn’t appreciate before:
Garbage is essential to life because we throw it out.
Sh-t is essential to life because we excrete it.
I hope that everyone involved with CEI gets to enjoy increaing quantities of these pleasant products wherever they go.
Are there oxygen bottles in hell?
May 18th, 2006 at 10:43 amBruce,
I suppose we share a burden of a corrupt culture in government since we all hail from the British Empire. My friends from India and Australia frequently have similar complaints. I think a couple more years of conservative government, and the Canadians will be chiming in as well. They’re not shoot one another yet because their media is telling them to be afraid of everything. And their government is still relatively straightforward. What a shocking way to live : )

Stop the presses, I just thought of the perfect justification Bush can use for waterboarding.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:54 am#12 - read it, enjoyed the pace of the thriller and the link to science - all the things that I enjoy about Crichton (except Timeline, which was crap). However, the science was crap in ‘State of Fear’ - here’s a sample debunking
Unfortunately, Two-Pint Caligula read the book too and thought it made a neat justification for national policy (not to mention all those pesky long-haired Greenpeace terrorists - something even the French would agree with him on). So Crichton ends up in the White House (Lincon Bedroom too?) for talks and not anyone who really knows what they are talking about.

We liberals are too passive on speaking out. I think that’s what we need to do. Pick our battles so we aren’t constantly whining, and then be the squeakier wheel.
One of the other science teachers at my school showed her classes an abc melodrama on an Avian Bird Flu outbreak. Some of the kids were talking about it, and I just said “We’re too afraid of things that have a slim chance of happening like this and terrorism.” I rolled my eyes and told them that they shouldn’t be afraid of everything. Just the things that make sense - like picking up a venomous snake or taking drugs. Some of them do listen.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:55 amSo now we know the real reason gasoline prices have been jumping in leaps and bounds during the past few months. Someone has to pay for these ads.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:55 amOh, and #2–you can add to that, once our body accumulates too much carbon dioxide–we die.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:57 amI didn’t read this too closely yet, but when the topic first came up on my screen, from several feet away, I thought it was a still shot from the famous political commercial from the sixties, “Daisy.”
May 18th, 2006 at 11:00 amSo who are they swaying with these ads? I think that the only people who agree with them are already have their heads firmly shoved up the neo-cons butts.
What I’ve seen, as far as the previews, of Al Gore’s film, is much more evoking & provacative.
When it comes out it’ll be like farenheit 9/11 w/o the Michael Moore taint. (btw - I like Michael Moore & what he portrays. I just meant he, like Bill Clinton or Hillary has become a smear tool by the reichties)

That’s a powerful retort to their campaign. Ever see the effects of CO2 poisoning on the human body? It’s nasty. Swollen and bloated, blue and oozing. Maybe that’s the side people need to see. Not a little pigtails blowing dandelion seeds.
May 18th, 2006 at 11:01 amFor completeness here’s amore balanced look. Moving right along - how about that ‘Da Vinci Code’? (No, not really)
May 18th, 2006 at 11:01 amYou know what they say… Although co2 is good for man - man can not live off of co2 alone… wait a minute … can man live off of co2… I though co2 was a waste product… something we give off because it is poisonous to us… poisons aren’t good for man are they… hmmmmmm… maybe they should stop that?

Remember the hit television comedy called “Dinosaurs”?
Here is a synopsis of their episode titled “Power Erupts”:
15. Power Erupts (23:34) (Originally aired January 15, 1992)
May 18th, 2006 at 11:23 amDuring an “ash day” off from school (that’s the dinosaurs’ equivalent of a snow day), Robbie comes up with a brilliant combination for his school’s science fair, one which will provide free, pollution-free energy by harnessing a local volcano’s resources. Threatened by the teen’s innovation, the Wesayso Corporation begins a smear campaign on television to discredit their competition and Robbie is dealt another moral dilemma when Earl’s employer looks to buy the idea.
False logic is nothing new, tobacco companies used to extol the benefits of the “calming effects” of the pleasure of smoking. Some even had doctors advising us to smoke. I guess greed has no conscience.
May 18th, 2006 at 11:24 amSaying CO2 is our friend because we breathe it out is like saying feces is our friend because we poop it out.

We are basically all Celts. Not Romans, Celts. We believe in the importance of not molesting the bard, we strongly disaprove of niggardliness, and we have a nasty habit of taking things to extremes. When our leaders screw up we satarise them, and when they do well we lionise them, and when it is shown that they are no longer capable, we sacrifice the bastards. Our law owes a lot to the Romans, but our culture is tied up in knotwork.
We need to see this in ourselves, and see the strengths of it, or we are going to continue to lose sight of the fact that those who call the bard traitor, who use the authority of gods, who lie and who cannot take a joke, just aren’t particularly worth listening to.
May 18th, 2006 at 11:30 am#25–Too bad liberal bloggers aren’t writing the ads and campaign slogans for the Dems. I think we would do a much better job than the Democratic strategist’s and PR people.

May 18th, 2006 at 11:47 amIf CO2 is harmless, let’s just lock up the CEOs and producers of this ad in a sealed room with nothing but CO2 and no oxygen. CO2 is life, after all. They shouldn’t mind.
May 18th, 2006 at 11:48 amWe breathe it out…so CO2 can be said to be basically, like, excrement. But that doesn’t sound much like ‘necessary to life’. Ha!

May 18th, 2006 at 12:20 pmFor Once Al Gore catches a brake!
This ad is an insult, and anyone who has been given basic elementry education is aware that Carbon Monoxide from Combustion Engines is in no way on the same level as Carbon Monoxide from Life.
Everyone is pissed off at the oil companies and this is only going to Fuel the Audience for Al Gore’s movie.
May 18th, 2006 at 12:26 pmHard
Carbon Dioxide. Monoxide is actually poisonous, whereas deaths by dioxide are due to suffocation.
That said, from the EPA;
Health Effects Associated with Carbon Monoxide
At low concentrations, fatigue in healthy people and chest pain in people with heart disease. At higher concentrations, impaired vision and coordination; headaches; dizziness; confusion; nausea. Can cause flu-like symptoms that clear up after leaving home. Fatal at very high concentrations. Acute effects are due to the formation of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood, which inhibits oxygen intake. At moderate concentrations, angina, impaired vision, and reduced brain function may result. At higher concentrations, CO exposure can be fatal.
You can see why the Repugs might want to promote Carbon Monoxide.
May 18th, 2006 at 12:33 pmEveryone is missing the ultimate goal here. This is all part of the Republican Global Warming Initiative. The plan is to warm the planet so that the Canadian climate becomes more like the US climate. Then we invade Canada. May 18th, 2006 at 2:59 pmExactly the kind of ridiculousness that we love over at the DeSmogBlog! Thankfully, awareness about these scoundrels and their (sometimes laughable) attempts to confuse the public seems to be growing daily.
May 18th, 2006 at 3:08 pmMinor point: the ad says carbon dioxide is “essential to life. We breath it out. Plants breath it in.” It doesn’t say “because,” so those statements are factually correct. The ad is still a bullshit, but on other grounds.
May 18th, 2006 at 3:55 pmCarbon Dioxide is not the same as Carbon Monoxide (two oxygens versus one). We don’t exhale the single O version, just the double O. Might wanna make sure you know the difference when debating those neocons who do, or they’ll never stop pointing it out. Just thought you’d want to know.
Also, it wasn’t until plants had been removing CO2 from the atmosphere of a younger Earth for millions of years that oxygen breathing lifeforms (including mammals) could even exist at all. It’s further proof of evolution and another endorsement for why it’s is dangerous to discard valid science for junk “Intelligent” Design science… Blind faith is going to destroy this planet. And the neocons repeatedly show that they do not care.
May 18th, 2006 at 4:02 pmHow can people say global warming doesn’t exist?
May 18th, 2006 at 4:04 pmThey’ve got their heads so firmly lodged up their arses they haven’t seen daylight in a dog’s age or else they have a vested interest in keeping laws away from their businesses.
These folks are simply amazing! What worries me is that this kind of rhetoric will actually work as our population has become increasingly inept at understanding the difference between reality and propaganda. It feels like the people of this world are giving up and resigning our fate so that the interests of a wealthy few can be promoted. It doesn’t benefit me or my children one bit to live in a world that is full of pollution, pesticides, toxic chemicals, etc. I have one question for them. Where have all the bee’s gone? Where are the lightening bugs? Does anybody care anymore? The wonders of life don’t include man made items such as cars, buildings, artificial lighting, etc. If they were actually Christians they would know and understand that.
May 18th, 2006 at 4:11 pm#70 that is bullshit defined. It makes no assertion, but leads the listener to a conclusion.
May 18th, 2006 at 4:13 pmApparently their strategy is as follows:”You’ll take my CO2 when you pry it from my cold, dead lungs.”

I wanted to say I’m trying to do my part by informing my team of 70 about the release of the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”. I plan on sending out this email to the entire team. Do you think I should modify it in any way? I just don’t want to offend anyone, but also want to wake them up and get them to come out. your feedback is appreciated-
_______________________________________
With national ride your bike to work day coming up (partially an environmental issue), I wanted to send out info on another event we should all be aware of. The limited release of a documentary entitled, “An Inconvenient Truth”. It is a film that aims to educate the masses about global warming and the current state of our environment. It also discusses how the planet is reaching a tipping point in our existence, and why our habits need to change, and fast. It’s becoming a moral issue, no longer just a political one.
I’m sure many of you find it frustrating that so many are persuaded by 60 second ads…and how a majority seam to be complacent about life and no longer read, think or discuss anything. Only what they are told by the favorite talking head or their church seams to matter. We need to do our part to help everyone wake up and become educated about issues, and then discuss and debate them. It’s the only way to make real progress. I’m not in any way claiming that a movie can be compared to objective research (education) on the issues. But maybe it will get you interested and motivated to take action in your own life.
If you are interested in going opening weekend, let me know. I’m trying to assemble a group to go see it together.

You know, our bodies expel feces as well. Which strangely enough, reminds me of big oil’s arguments against global warming…
May 18th, 2006 at 11:30 pm#84, I don’t think the creative types at the ad agency who did this work have to be ashamed of themselves. I think they were on our side. They counted on their clients having such contempt for the public that they would imagine this ad wouldn’t instantly backfire.
Yes, Americans are ignorant about science, but they’re not that ignorant.
It does remind me of a slightly more subtle magazine ad from the seventies, put out by the American Sugar Council, or whatever they call themselves. “Sugar. No other food is so low in calories and so high in energy-giving carbohydrates.”
May 18th, 2006 at 11:37 pm[…] Hopefully, oil companies at their best. […]
May 19th, 2006 at 12:05 amCO2? Should we ban soft drinks and beer? They are charged with CO2.
May 19th, 2006 at 12:24 amI do support the reduction of CO2 emissions. But as you can see there are going to be oppositions to this.
Whatever happened to the guy with the HHO torch and his car powered by HHO?
It was on FOX26?
Global Warming ? Yes, CO2 rise ? Yes. The only question is the rise is inconsistent, not related, and in true geological time, not really that unusual.
The study by by Johanessen et al, if you took the publsihed rates of sea level rise (about 0.2mm/yr) we will have the 14+ foot sea leve increase - in lets see, it would take 5 years to have the sea rise 0.00328 feet, or about 500 years to rise a little over 3 feet, or about 2,500 years to rise to about 15 feet.
Wow, dooms day is right around the corner.
May 19th, 2006 at 2:15 amIf CO2 is so great for us why do we breath it out?
May 19th, 2006 at 5:27 amLet’s put those idiots in a room with 100% CO2 and see how they do.
Okay, someone had to say it: the verb is spelled breathe.
May 19th, 2006 at 7:25 amI’m just as outraged as everyone else here, but please, get the damned spelling right.
It’s BREATHE as in BREATHE IT OUT i.e. exhale - or inhale.
Breath is what we BREATHE out (OR IN).
May 19th, 2006 at 7:44 amOK, I think we agree too much of anything is bad. Too much clearing of the land and removing trees, and the destruction of the rain forest has helped make the build-up of carbon dioxide possible. CO2 is not the only culprit; methane from animals all over the world is causing global warming also. Running and riding your bicycle produces excess CO2, as does heavy breathing after sex. Where is it all going to end?
May 19th, 2006 at 10:39 amCorporatism=Evil corruption
Fact, not opinion.
When will America wise up?
May 19th, 2006 at 11:10 amIt is plainly evident that we are in the midst of an information war.
The corporate interests will not stop until they control all avenues to information and control what information is delivered.
May 19th, 2006 at 11:12 am104-you have the worse logic ever. comparing apples and oranges doesnt prove anything. the CO2 produced from cars is WAY more than a person breathing hard after running around. honestly, are you stupid?
May 19th, 2006 at 11:38 am”The Movie the Oil Companies Don’t Want You To See” .. should be the slogan for
Al Gore’s Movie.
Bruce, Thanks for your clarification on post #51 in response to my #50.
Carbon Dioxide in concentrated forms turns available air into toxic fumes according to many gov’t articles, just type ‘carbon dioxide diesel engines’ into yahoo or google and look at the amount of information that is available.
Again, this ‘Ad’ to counter balance Al Gore’s movie is only going to ‘Fuel’ a larger audience to go see the movie the oil companies don’t want you to see.
So to reiterate my original post, #50 - Al Gore finally catches a Brake!!!
May 19th, 2006 at 12:09 pmCompare the two:
carbon dioxide is “essential to life†because “we breath it out.â€
We need some carbon dioxide, but too much causes global warming
Both are oversimplifications and essentially erroneous. CO2 is not essential to life, it’s essential to some life (plants), and just because we produce CO2 doesn’t make it essential (to us).
Climate is changing constantly, so saying CO2 causes global warming is like saying gravity causes time, or solar activity causes our hearts to beat. Yes, they both may occur at the same time, and yes we can find “evidence” either way, but there is no definitive correlation.
And by the way, H2O has about 100 times more effect on the “greenhouse effect” than CO2, although no one ever wants to mention that.

May 19th, 2006 at 2:18 pmYou know, everyone complains about big oil business, but when was the last time you spoke with your neighbor driving around in an H2 about how much junk it puts out into the air, the amount of petrol is sucks down, or the nice tax credit he/she gets unfairly due to it being an overweight monster. Don’t go pointing the finger unless you do something to make it better. :-) Not to flame, but to help you think.
May 19th, 2006 at 2:47 pmCL 109: We’re not filling the atmosphere with H2O, we’re filling it with CO2 and other greenhouse effect gases. Maybe the same ad agency wrote your script? And maintaining that there is no correlation between atmospheric gases and global climate change is about on the same level as maintaining that the planet is flat after seeing Earth from the space shuttle.
Robert 100: You’re assuming a steady millimeter scale rise each year, ignoring the possibility, indeed the certain rise in temperature and increasing ice melt that will accompany it. Consider that as the Antartic land ice sheets melt, the darker land underneath will be revealed, will absorb more heat, and increase the effect and the melt - as is happening to the polar ice cap now.
May 19th, 2006 at 3:37 pmWhat an irony! Read this:
Exxon Mobil investors want to meet on global warming
Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle
NEW YORK - A group of pension funds and institutional investors on Thursday accused Exxon Mobil Corp. of failing to act on global warming concerns and demanded a meeting with the company’s board.
In response, Exxon Mobil said it has an ongoing dialogue with members of the group and is setting up a meeting in July to discuss these issues.
The meeting will only be with Exxon Mobil staff, however, a spokeswoman for the investor group said, noting they are seeking an audience with the company’s board.
“In part, our position includes the fact that we recognize that the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere poses risks that may prove significant for society and ecosystems,” Exxon Mobil said in a prepared statement. “We believe that these risks justify actions now, but the selection of actions must consider the uncertainties that remain.”
The group, composed of pension fund trustees and institutional investors, said they were concerned Exxon Mobil’s hand- ling of the climate change issue left it trailing behind its major oil peers, such as BP and Royal Dutch Shell.

May 19th, 2006 at 4:25 pmAnd to think that this corporate propaganda might be aimed at ‘opinion leaders’???
May 19th, 2006 at 9:53 pm[…] The first ad portrays global warming science as a vicious smear campaign against carbon dioxide. The ad, which despite appearances is not an SNL parody, helpfully reminds us that carbon dioxide is “essential to life†because “we breath it out.†Read and watch the rest here: Think Progress » New Ads Funded by Big Oil Portray Global Warming Science as Smear Campaign Against Carbon Dioxide […]

So much hate here for the big oil companies. If you are so against them, why do you continue to use their products, like natural gas in your houses and gasoline in your SUVs. Remember, you should walk how you talk… (I’m sure you are.)
May 20th, 2006 at 5:01 pmThis is too frightening for words!!!!!!
May 20th, 2006 at 5:29 pmYes of course everyone should do their part - reevaluate your living situation, move closer to work if possible. IF you have kids put them on bikes to get around — they are probably in need of the excercise…change all your bulbs to low mercury compact flourecents… a hundred things you can do…But also push the big companies hard to change their practices… MANY are open to change when pressured by stake and shareholders…for encouragement read What Matters Most - by J Hollander
On the advertising thing….there is a problem. Big media won’t buy liberal acvertising. You can’t pay them enough - because your POV is not corporate. Just ask the good folks at adbusters or Move ON — BLue money isn’t the right kind of money apparently!!!
May 21st, 2006 at 11:30 amMaybe somebody actually likes global warming:
http://pissedoffcabbie.blogspot.com/ 2006/ 04/ after-new-gold-rush.html
May 22nd, 2006 at 5:46 pmWho exactly are the “they” referred to in the ads? What would the motivation be for a massive conspiracy against carbon dioxide? What does the media stand to gain by publishing such articles? There are all kinds of other more sensational things that they can exploit. What do the scientists get out of it?
May 22nd, 2006 at 10:44 pmyoutube has both videos and they seem to be put up using the cei as the uploader . It does not allow comments though or comments on the personal page . I wanted to post a snippet I nicked written by someone else detailing the studies mentioned ie , this
“The Exxon ads feature two papers, “Recent ice-sheet growth in the interior of Greenland”, by O. Johannessen et al. in Science, November 2005, and “Snowfall-driven growth in East Antarctic ice sheet mitigates recent sea-level rise”, by C. Davis et al., also in Science, aJune 2005. What the ads fail to note is that both papers point out that these effects are consistent with a warming climate. In the first case, the volume of ice in Greenland is growing slightly due to increased precipitation, a consequence of warming, while ice at the edges of Greenland is retreating, also because of warming. In the second case, note that increased snowfall in the Antarctic is mitigating a sea-level rise, both consequences of global warming.
In other words, the two papers flaunted by Exxon actually confirm the warming trend……”.
Video responses are allowed though so if anyone has the ability etc please do. Further in the terms and conditions on youtube , it states that they do not allow misrepresentation of others in videos or something to that effect (see section 5) . Should people complain en mass or demand an ability to comment? 55thousand plus have watched this proganda. Please be proactive here and respond at youtube in a way or another and tell others to do so also.
May 23rd, 2006 at 9:58 pmWhy is it liberals think vegitation only absorbs CO2 and emits O2?

May 26th, 2006 at 3:24 pm[…] Perhaps anticipating that Gore’s movie might make an impression, the oil industry neckties have responded by creating two commercials that aim to label carbon dioxide a non-threat because “we breathe it out”. Their tagline is the best: “Carbon Dioxide: They call it pollution, we call it life”. […]

June 5th, 2006 at 1:45 pm[…] Ian Murray, senior fellow at the Exxon-backed Competitive Enterprise Institute, writes for the National Review on global warming issues. Today, he excerpts some promotional material from a horror movie that he says “mirrors Al Gore’s views” on global warming: [G]lobal warming is caused by the widespread sin, immorality, and materialism of our current society. The looting and murders after these disasters struck are further evidence of the Antichrist’s coming. June 6th, 2006 at 3:13 pmI wrote a counter ad to the CEI propaganda :::[They call it a spot, we call it a stain] It is my way of combating their lies so, if you like it, please link it, as quite a few have done already.
June 13th, 2006 at 9:30 amMight I suggest that you all cease you consumption of electricity, oil, and wood products.
If you have not stopped using these products, which include gasoline, plastic, paper, air conditioning, and food that isn’t grown organically (petrochemicals are used in fertalizer production) then you are in absolutely no position to complain when we are baked to death by rising temprature. Americans are so disgustingly lazy, they consume at break neck speeds and then expect their government to clean up the mess they, as consumers, created.
I think most of the people you see on these boards are recreational environmentalist. They love to sound like they care with all this talk of evil corporations, and stupid middle-american republicans, when in truth these corporations are merely catering to what people, including psuedo-environmentalists, demand. The government is not capable of fixing this problem through regulations. Doing so will only cause massive recession.
The responsibility lies in the hands of each of us as consumers.
July 15th, 2006 at 7:12 pm[…] I’m seriously speechless if you can believe that. The gall of the Energy companies!!!! You have to watch the ad (you’ll need quicktime to view). Carbon Dioxide a life quality improver not a poison!! […]
