Bush Responds To Snow Criticism: ‘You Should Have Seen What [He] Said About The Other Guy’»

Announcing Fox News’ Tony Snow as White House Press Secretary, Bush responded to highly critical comments Snow made about Bush, reported on ThinkProgress yesterday. (ThinkProgress research on Tony Snow’s criticism of Bush was picked up by the Associated Press and the New York Times.)

Bush said Snow told him, “You should have seen what I said about the other guy.” Watch it:

The White House is trying to spin Snow’s criticism by saying it’s evidence that Snow isn’t afraid to be honest. That’s fine. But that means that people who are being honest say things like “George Bush is something of an embarrassment.”

Transcript:

For seven years he served as the host of “Fox News Sunday.” Most recently, he reached Americans all across our country as the host of “The Tony Snow Show” on Fox News Radio and “Weekend Live with Tony Snow” on the Fox News Channel.

He’s not afraid to express his own opinions. For those of you who’ve read his columns and listened to his radio show, he sometimes has disagreed with me. I asked him about those comments, and he said, “You should have heard what I said about the other guy.”

  1. Jay Randal Says:

Tony Snow has been hired to spin LIES for the Bush Regime! He has NOT been employed to tell the truth about anything! Propaganda and dis-information are expected of him!

  2. Alexandra Says:

EXACTLY! Look, Bush himself says of Snow “not afraid to be honest.” It’s all a trick to make the people believe that the administration is going to be more “truthful” about what’s going on. Don’t believe any of it.

  3. the fly-man Says:

After listening, to our President, who Mona Charen describes as Painfully Inarticulate, I have to say that Tony’s comment about the President is noteworthy in that is actually very True.

  4. sugar magnolia Says:

    Tony Snow:

“Equally worrisome for Democrats is the fact that money no longer reliably buys votes. George Soros-backed “reforms” got trounced by Ohio voters — which is awful news for a national Democratic Party that has become hopelessly addicted to alms from the eccentric billionaire trio of Soros, Peter Lewis and Stephen Bing.”

  5. Jimi Says:

Since when did we ever expect anything but spin and lies from an Administration mouthpiece, be they directly employed or just directed. The big whoppers get dropped from that platform to cover us all with BS. Don’t even think about takin’ off yer BS protection. In fact, reapply a good liberal dose.

  6. Jackie Says:

Figures Bush would go to Fox news to hire a spokesman. The entire Fox News operation exsists to be Bush Spokesman, and propagndists. Now Snow can get the news directly from Karl Rove, it won’t even have to go through Fox editors, who admitted last week that Bush’s ratings are at an all time low. That had to hurt for a network which was conceived and is run for the sole purpose of pumping up the monkey.

Hey check out some funny Bush comics.

  7. Marie Says:

Jackie, I think you are correct.
This is a marriage of convenience for the Rove White House (I hope it is a final fling before Rove is indicted).
Snow is an experienced propagandist — he may have had criticism of Bush in the past, but he is a company man, a Bushevik, a Fox spinmeister who now will become a conduit between Bush/Cheney -> Fox -> the general press.

  8. Five of Diamonds Says:

Tony Snow is one of the most notorious liars in talk radio. He also equals Rush Limbaugh in fear and hate-mongering. His choice as press secretary is evidence of this administration’s fascist devotion to propaganda.

  9. katy Says:

“The White House is trying to spin Snow’s criticism by saying it’s evidence that Snow isn’t afraid to be honest. That’s fine…”

and irrelavant…the guy was hire to be White House Press Secretary - NOT to tell the truth…

    enough of this already …

  10. Rosencrantz Says:

I agree with what others are saying. This crap about all the bad things Snow has said abotu Bush is just that…crap. Snow is still a Bush supporting, Fox News, propogandist. I think his criticism of BUsh has been taken out of context to make it sound like he is anti-Bush when we all know he isn’t. If anything he wants Bush to be more extreme and more forceful and that was why he was criticising Bush. Not criticising his mistakes and bad policies but criticising him for not going far enough.

This whole thing reeks of ROve’s work. Leak to the media that Snow, whom all the left-wing blogs have been bashing, has a long history of criticising the president. If BUsh has this reference in his speech then clearly it is information they want to encourage the public in repeating. The only other times they have done that is when they want to spread lies, so why should we act like NOW is any different.

I am strongly anti-Bush and strongliy Liberal, but I think a lot of other liberals are making the mistake of being against everything Bush. I see their point, but it also makes many liberals easily manipulated into supporting a position they were previously against (ie. illegal imigration and Tony Snow) when Bush changes his position.

Fellow LIberals, you were right the first time…Snow is nothign more than the typical Fox News liar and Bush water-carryer. That is how he got the job in the first place. He is used to lying and spinning to cover for the administration. I was shaking my head when all my favorite blogs changed their tune about Snow when they found out he criticised Bush a couple times. Compare that to how many times he covered up for them and look at the bigger picture, because when you act like Snow is a legitimate criticiser of BUsh you play into their hands. I just know that when I get off work, and turn on the late-afternoon media shows on CNN, all I will be hearing is how the fearless leader has hired a new spokesman who has a record of criticising Bush himself.

We will never get our voices heard, or the truth out in the open, if we keep falling for these tactics. The only way we will get heard by the MSM is if we are steadfast in our resolve and persistant in promoting the truth. We drop the ball by continuing to change the story so it constantly fits an anti-Bush narative. Everything should be a pro-truth, pro-freedom and pro-democracy narative. All this Snow story is going to get us is more claims of “flip-flopper” and comments about how we only care about being anti-Bush….which we do but for the right reasons….reasons that aren’t getting heard.

  11. Southwest Bob Says:

Another attempted distraction. . . . who cares about which liar faces the press each day? This isn’t going to make a failed person a super duper president ! This president is the worst in American history and no “TV personality” will cause that to be different.

  12. AvengingAngel Says:

Quote of the Day: Dana Milbank of the Washington Post

“We first have to ask if Tony’s going to get back pay, and we then have to ask, is this just the beginning of a trend? Does Sean Hannity replace Rumsfeld at the Pentagon? Does Bill O’Reilly get the FBI?”

  13. Anne Says:

By saying Snow was “honest” in his criticism of Bush, they are also, by extension, branding as honest the many, many misstatements - lies - Snow has told about the “other guy.” They are perfectly willing to take a few weak hits if it means that the lies about so many other things will stand as the truth.

Not sure Snow’s ego is going to allow him to comfortable assume the role the White House expects him to play, so the new entertainment factor may be in seeing how much he struggles to stay on message.

  14. lib4 Says:

Yes it maybe a ROVIAN distraction (Tony Snow cristisms of Bush in the past)

…BUT the story will only last one day….I mean come on the man is going to have to immediately get up there and start spinning like a top..(Rummy/Iraq/Iran/Gas Prices/eventually Rove, Libby and Abramoff) all these things will dwarf this Bush crisitism story within days if not hours…so no worries….

Tony believes they (Rove and Josh Bolten) are going to hand the reins over to him and give him all sorts of autonomy…well sorry to say Tony is sadly mistaken……
The moment he is too candid…or too critical of the president or says something that cast a negative light on this Admin. he will be shit-canned or shut out…

It is going to be an incredibly difficult transition going from critically examining this admistrations gaffes to now defending this adminstrations gaffes within the span of one week….

Dont worry the wheels will fall off this bus within two - three weeks…..

I WILL BET ANYONE TONY SNOW WILL NOT LAST THRU THE SUMMER……

  15. Canuck Stuck in Muck Says:

Who have they got writing for the President now? David Letterman. No, wait. Letterman’s way better than “You should’ve heard what I said about the other guy.” What about Leno? Maybe Don Rickles. Alas! No one that well-suited to the job. It was probably Laura. If we needed any reminder that this presidency is a bad script penned by an out-of-work comedy writer, this appointment speech was it. And get a load of the appointee. “He’s not afraid to speak his mind.” Can’t you hear it now, “Tony…erm Mr. Snow, will the administration come clean about who leaked the name of Ambassador Wilson’s wife and her clandestine role at the CIA?”
Snow–That’s the subject of an ongoing investigation………..

  16. IraqVet Says:

GET OUT THE KNEE PADS, TONY!!! It’s going to be a long two years!!!

Hey, he had some great OJT with FAUX NEWS and now he can really ham it up for the worst President in history!!!

I wonder how long before the first lie comes to fruition???

  17. dlet Says:

I don’t foresee Tony lastin that long. He seems too much of an egoist to let himself say nothing. I think he will let his tongue loose too many times and will be yanked. He wants his name in the papers. But we will see. Break a leg Tony….among other things.

  18. quicksand Says:

What’s with the caption? “BUSH: HE KNOWS ALL OF YOU AND HE SAID YES ANYWAY” What? Throw me a clue someone… what does that have to with Snow?

Honeslty I could care less who they appoint. I just wonder, who would want to do it? Snow knows the deal here, this adminsitration is in serious trouble and the so-called “permanent republican majority” is looking to be, once-again, permanently out of power. Perhaps, he’s just being a good republican and conservative for the future. I don’t know.

Bet it has to pay well.

  19. Jay Randal Says:

Post 18 the Bush Regime has probably offered Tony Snow lots of $$$$ and perks too! They also only hire someone they can blackmail, so that keeps them in line as well! Tony probably has a big skeletin in his closet, which he does not want revealed, so he will spin the LIES for Bush no matter what and take the blood money too! Judas did the same against Jesus!

  20. JIMBO Says:

Joseph Goebbels must be smiling from underneath the pits of Hell right now.

  21. agua fiero Says:

    “something of an embarrassment” ??
More like an absolute embarrassment, I cring each time I witness Juniors buffoonery….
And now he’s got a media clown to try to explain to the citizens what he can’t comprehend himself…
Maybe Dubious is trying to make us believe he can accept criticism after all………..
Way beyond his grasp still, and probably forever, is the ability to listen to critcism, and find the common ground that leads to good for all concerned.
And Toneesknow will only say what he is told to say, we can bet that was in his contract.
Speaking of contracts, wonder what his employment package netted him, hmmmmm?

the salary? I’m sure it’s good, but dude, them perks!!!!
    -Unlimited Exxon-Mobil gas card
-weekend getaways to beautiful (sic) Crawford, Texas
    - a hummer (the iron type)
    - the suite at the Riyahd Hilton any time he’s in the neighborhood
    - the White House barber
    - guaranteed post retirement employment as a Wal-Mart greeter
    - immunity from prosecution for following his employers orders.

  22. Menig Says:

We should’ve heard what he said about the other guy? Okay, lets do a quick search:

Jewish World Review, November 3rd, 2000

    http://www.jewishworldreview.com/tony/snow110300.asp

Clinton learns that in Washington, you can’t take friendship personally

http://www.jewishworldreview.com — BILL CLINTON hit the hustings in the final days of his final campaign, only to discover the magic was gone. Crowds didn’t mob him as before. Reporters didn’t cover him as before. When he spoke, the earth didn’t quiver and quake — but Al Gore did.

Clinton is on the verge of discovering something well known to capital veterans: In Washington, you can’t take friendship personally. The profession of politics worships offices and powers, not actual men. So as the trappings of the presidency begin to slough off like snakeskin, what people increasingly will see is the man — and in the case of Bill Clinton, the least impressive thing about him is himself.

Even if we didn’t need a reminder, the president provided one last week. In an interview slated to appear in an upcoming issue of Esquire, he whined that Republicans owed him an apology for impeachment.

Let’s get this right: The man dropped his pants in the Oval Office. He pleasured himself at a sink. He multitasked with Monica while discussing troop movements in Bosnia with Rep. Sonny Montgomery.

When word leaked out, he lied to a) his wife, b) his daughter, c) his friends, d) his Cabinet, e) the American public, f) a court of law and g) anyone not mentioned above. He tried to intimidate witnesses. His office planted vicious news stories about that woman, Ms. Lewinsky. And when he survived, he claimed he did what he did because he wanted to save the Constitution of the United States!

It is hard to take seriously a man who ruts in the Oval Office, let alone revises history to describe his swiving as the democratic version of Horatius at the bridge. But that is what we get with William Jefferson Blythe Clinton. We have a fellow who is part hick, part scholar; a guy with Astroturf in the bed of his El Camino and a Rhodes Scholarship on his resume; a poor li’l ol’ country boy and the master of his many demesnes. In short, we have a man of jagged and staggering contradictions: Huckleberry Gandhi.

Al Gore would be leading the presidential race by a dozen points if his boss even once had uttered the two magic words: I’m sorry. But he didn’t. He found it unnecessary. After all, he whupped the Republicans, didn’t he?

    Aw shucks, Bubba

And that’s the story of this campaign. For eight years, Bill Clinton aimed too low. He entered office with the intention of hogging the spotlight and cheating the gendarmes, and he did both. In so doing, he has cheated the hangman — but not the historian.

Even though it is never wise to render snap judgments, it seems safe to predict that Bill Clinton will be recalled as a Nobody for the Ages — a man whose narcissism devoured his talents.

He may be the most gifted man ever to sit in the White House, and the most brazenly corrupt. One can imagine him on the mountaintop with Satan, hearing the offer — the world for your soul — and asking: “C’mon, man! There’s a catch, right?”

Clinton never tried to rally Americans behind a great cause; he never took the kind of risk that separates great presidents from the others. He didn’t have to. Times were good.

And so his presidency, like “Seinfeld,” was an entertainment about nothing. It had no topic, no theme, no purpose — other than to dispel our boredom. The whole show was about him. It feasted on our goodwill and our trusting natures. He twisted language shamelessly. He described federal expenditures as “investments” and tax cuts as “spending.”

He made fools of just about everyone who fell under his spell — including presumptive peace partners Tony Blair and Ehud Barak. He was uncowed by failure. Indeed — and here’s a real Clinton touch — he had aides contact Norwegian public-relations firms in hopes of advancing his candidacy for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Bill Clinton became a lead weight to Al Gore because he was more concerned about posing for a legacy than doing his job. As Gore clawed at the water, trying to break the surface, Clinton was sitting in a gynecological pose for Esquire, grinning like a randy pappy. And every time he appeared in public, he reminded us of what might have been — and wasn’t.

If you want to appreciate the depth of the vice president’s Clinton problem, ask yourself a simple question. Suppose someone built a Clinton Monument (don’t speculate about what appearance it might assume). What inscription would it bear?

How about: “He avoided jail. Somehow.”

  23. Anon Says:

Snow hasn’t even had a first day in the office, and he’s already on the defensive. Tony Snow, how you liking this “non honeymoon”?

The issue is the White House war crimes. Snow has freely chosen to align himself with war criminals. Bad move. Snow, how does it feel to know that every day you go to work, you are freely choosing to support a war criminal?

  24. Krazny Says:

How about: “He avoided jail. Somehow.”

    Comment by Menig — April 26, 2006 @ 12:44 pm

it is unfortunate that we won’t be able to say the same thing about Bush. What would be the inscription on the Bush monument?

    Perhaps:
I lied to America so I could start a war.
    or
I got a bunch of people killed and made millions for my oil industry friends
    or
I cut taxes for the rich, and doubled the national debt.

Please jump at any time here Menig

  25. Jay Randal Says:

Post 22 interesting if Tony Snow said all that about President Clinton? I believe the skeletin in Tony Snow’s closet is that he is GAY > call him a secret Brokeback Mountain guy who is married, has kids, but meets his male lover covertly! No wonder Bush would fall for Tony > they both are closet guys > remember Jeff Gannon the male hooker?!

  26. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

I wonder how long before the first lie comes to fruition???

    Comment by IraqVet — April 26, 2006 @ 11:50 am

Does that answer have to be in seconds, minutes or hours? I find it hard to believe it could be measured in “days”.

  27. ElectricBassPlayer Says:

#22, you are a perfect example of the decay of conservative morality.

Clinton lied about having sex with someone not his wife. Even though the person was not an employee (no sexual harrassment), not a minor (no statuatory rape), and the lie wasn’t perjury (it had nothing to do with the matter being investigated, the Whitewater land deal), it was still a lie told under oath.

Now, let’s compare that with George W. Bush lying to Congress and the American people about the reason to go to war. It wasn’t told under oath but it was a conscience decision to mislead the nation into invading and occupying a country that posed NO THREAT to us. It has cost over the American taxpayer over 250 BILLION DOLLARS, killed some 30,000 INNOCENT CIVILIANS, killed 2,500 AMERICAN SOLDIERS, and WOUNDED 17,000 SOLDIERS.

So, what’s worse? Lying under oath about getting blowjob, or lying not-under-oath about something that led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people?

Bush should be arrested and imprisoned. He’s a liar and a criminal. And anyone who thinks he’s better than Clinton, by any measure at all, has no integrity and broken character. Shame, shame, shame.

~~In the year 2001 before 9-11 ~~ he deeply embarrassed me personally by profusely apologizing to the Chinese ~~ it was REALLY EMBARRASSING to see the two week ~~ rewriting of an apology to the damn Chinese ~~ but after 9-11 I realized President Bush had a good idea to go into Afghanistan with worldwide support ~~ continue our Iraq Policy ~~albeit without world support ~~ but since mid-2004 ~~I started to notice odd quirks and pathetic missteps ~~ Then right now I have serious problems ~~ our foreign policy mirrors that of Israel exactly ~~ North Korea is appeased (maybe because they are not threatening Israel) ~~ so all in all the below poll will give you an idea of what I think of President Bush at this moment:

Judging from his stances and actions, President Bush is actually: (pick 1)
    President of Israel
    President of Iraq
    President of Mexico
President of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait
    President of Spending
    Vice President of the USA

  29. doubtful Says:

Ah, yes. The mysterious “other guy” Bush is always talking about. Look out kids, the “other guy” is gonna getcha! Boo!

The first question Snow should answer is why he thinks Bush is an embarassment. It should be asked of him every time he takes the podium until he answers it.

And yet the Republicans, barely into Clinton’s first term, were already calling for his impeachment. They weren’t sure what the charge would be, only that they wanted to get him at any cost.

So we get an investigation costing between $40 and $70 million (depending on the source) into an event that happened BEFORE he became president.

And yet the only thing they could get on him..the ONLY thing…was that he lied about sex.

But hey, in exchange, America did get to see Paula Jones take advantage of her newfound attention and get a nose job so that she’d look better on TV, not to mention her boob job that she showed to all of America in the pages of Penthouse, and it certainly didn’t bother her to attend a National Press Club dinner also attended by Mr. Clinton, with nary a tear in sight…I remember seeing video of her at the event and she was nothing but smiles…she certainly got over the sadness and crying that she displayed when she talked to the press about her lawsuit against Mr. Clinton.

For someone to be so emotionally upset and embarassed over her “ordeal,” she certainly got over it fairly quick.

Paula Jones Shows Off New Look To TV Newsmagazine

NEW YORK (AP) — Paula Jones trimmed her profile by getting a nose job, which she showed off on national television.

Since she first went public with accusations of harassment against President Clinton, Mrs. Jones has gone through several hairstyle and wardrobe changes.

“I just said I wanted a normal nose to match my face, and he said `Trust me,’ and I said, `OK,”‘ Mrs. Jones said in a National Enquirer interview broadcast on Wednesday night’s “PrimeTime Live” on ABC. “Now they can see my whole face. The whole me.”

    Well done, it’d say :)

I’ve stepped in Princess Lisa’s comments before. You are right. She’s only interested in an egocentric limelight where she makes up the rules as she goes alone to suit her because she doesn’t bother to research anything (her own words). Just another whack-a-troll…

  62. Gannon Reader Says:

I’m getting the impression from Gannon [at the link] that some believe Snow is going to go after the media on camera/in the WHite House Press Briefing. is the media ready; and will the media assert itself against a war criminal in the White House. Looking forward to media smackdowns of this war criminal.

  63. meg_mac Says:

I wonder where he will seat Helen Thomas??? probably at the back like that coward Scotty!!!

  64. Krazny Says:

Does Jeff Gannon thing he has any credibility with anyone?

Funny thing about internet access, you can do it from work.

  70. meg_mac Says:

KRAZNY… she wants to talk about jobs! lets talk about the minimum wage people are struggling with in this country of Exxon billions. LISA… what has the federal govenment done to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 an hour? How can the federal govenment protect oil companies tax revenues and leave poor people standing with their 5 bucks an hour?

  71. Blue State Red Says:

Funny, I seem to recall the Left complaining that Bush only surrounds himself with sycophantic yes-men (i.e., Scott McClellan), and that he does not tolerate dissent (e.g., General Zinni). Now Bush appoints a new Press Sec who has a record of independence from the White House, and the Left complains abouot that.

You progolodytes are really something. You think being “progressive” means never having to say your satisfied.

  72. meg_mac Says:

bluestatered…. you of all people should know about ‘red herrings’! just another political move to make Goober look magnanomous. Not gonna fly for more than 1 week. Hello!!!! he worked for FAUX NEWS!!! i believe in never having to say GOOBER BUSH!!! ever again!!!

  73. Krazny Says:

Tony Snow doesn’t really have a record of being independant. He is the same Yes man as McClellen. I think this is more of an attempt by Josh Bolten to make it appear as though Bush is not in a bubble. However Snow will parrot whatever information is given to him by Bush, and co. I don’t expect an independance from Snow, nor do I expect the White House Press Corp to defer to him.

At least we are funny. You’re just retarded.

None of us wants to go to your pink little girl blog. Sell retarded somewhere else.

  75. Blue State Red Says:

Snow will parrot whatever information is given to him by Bush, and co. I don’t expect an independance from Snow, nor do I expect the White House Press Corp to defer to him.

    A. Maybe, wait and see.

    B. Assuming your prediction is correct, that would make Tony Snow different from Mike McCurry and Joe Lockhart - how, exactly?

    C. Like I said, you hypocritical progolodytes have no decency, no principles and no shame whatsoever.

  76. Sweet William Gruber Says:

what did tony say about the other guy? Has anyone checked his comments on Hillary or Feingold? Has his rhetoric about liberals included the terms he uses for Bush, or is Bush just special?

  77. Krazny Says:

Right we have no decency, no shame, and no morals. You on the other hand want to force your religion onto me, start wars we don’t need to fight, and torture people. Please get back to me on the shame, decency and morality when you clean up your house.

  78. Blue State Red Says:

You on the other hand want to force your religion onto me, start wars we don’t need to fight, and torture people.

Lie, lie, lie, attack, attack, attack, blah, blah, blah.:

    A. You cite no evidence that I am particularly religious, or that I ever tried to “force” any particular religious views on you or anyone else.

    B. Let’s see, that would be the wars in which we liberated 50 million Afghans and Iraqis, destroyed murderous regimes who used REAL torture as instruments of internal domestic terror, and who used bribery, kickbacks and embezzlement as tools of a foreign policy designed to provide aid to the terrorist enemies of America.

    C. I want our wartime policy to promote the saving of lives - even if, in some cases, that means depriving a few terrorists of central heat and air conditioning. That’s not torture, mate, and neither is holding a gun to a terrorist’s head to find out where the next IED will go off. That’s called wartime interrogation, and there’s nothing wrong with aving lives that way.

Give me a break! If you progs had been in charge on 9/11 there would have been no effectiuve response to the terrorists - just more of the same failed “law enforcement approach” that gave us all those attacks in the 19990s and the “Gorelick wall” between the FBI and the CIA. Oh, yeah, you guys really put the fear of God in ‘em back when you were in power.

  79. Krazny Says:

    A. You cite no evidence that I am particularly religious, or that I ever tried to “force” any particular religious views on you or anyone else.

You support a man who would bring down the wall between church and state. By doing so it is a proper assumption that you are a Christian evanglical, and support their particular agenda.

Why has our “liberation” been focused on Iraq? There are hundreds of repressive and despotic regimes around the world. they have been there a lot longer then you and I. I supported the decision to enter Afganistan, and capture Osama Bin Laden, and dismantle Al Qaidi. Sadly Bush chose to take the support he received from the 9/11 attack and push forward the PNAC agenda. Iraq was not our enemy. Saddam had been defanged long ago. He was not about to start attacking his neighbors. He tried and was stopped both time.

Do you know that the prisoner abuse scandal has ensnared over 600 military personel? Do you honestly think it is a “few bad apples”. The revolution in this county was started over illegal search and seizure, and issues such as holding prisoners without evidence for indefinate periods of time. You and people like you are so scared, that you would rather live in a sterile box with no freedom. take a look at pictures of Abu Ghrab and get back to me on torture.

my opinion and not mine alone of course is if the progs had been in charge, 9/11 would have been stopped. The Bush admin dropped the ball, and never recovered it. Why did Bush say he deosn’t think about Bin Laden much? The guy responsible for desctruction of the 9/11 towers and 3000+ american dead, and Bush is to busy to do anything.

    WTF???

  80. Krazny Says:

a little light reading about what the US has been doing with terror suspects.

    http://news.yahoo.com/ s/ ap/ 20060426/ ap_on_re_eu/ cia_secret_prisons;_ylt=AnBLKX5.a6mH5RktchWOlxJvaA8F;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA–
    or
    http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=1593846ed977afed

reports indicate 100 deaths of prisoners in US custody. I don’t think it was lack of central heating that killed them.

  81. Blue State Red Says:

You support a man who would bring down the wall between church and state.

What wall? you mean the wall that is nowhere to be found in the Constitution? Or the wall the Supreme Court fashioned out of whole cloth in 1943, 150 years after the constituion was written? And how, exactly, have I tried to “force” any religious views down your throat?

Why has our “liberation” been focused on Iraq? There are hundreds of repressive and despotic regimes around the world>

This is one of the Left’s most faulty, most insincere arguments. First, we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq under separate sets ofd unique circumstances. As it happens, those circumstances included the common factor that the ties of both countries with al-Quaed made them uniquely threatening to American interests. Second, the logical result of this argument is support for more invasions, not fewer invasions. I doubt you serioulsy support the idea of invading Iran or North Korea. No, you would be outraged by such actions, even if they clearly were in America’s best interests.

take a look at pictures of Abu Ghrab and get back to me on torture.

Sorry, putting panties on a terrorist’s head is not torture. The worst thing about Abu Graib is not what was done, but the fact that it was done by “a few bad apples” on an undersupervised night shift - for no particular military or intelligence purpose. That is neither standard policy nor standard procedure, and everyone knows it.

if the progs had been in charge, 9/11 would have been stopped.

I’ve got news for you: the progs WERE in charge - during the 1993 WTC bombing, the 1995 OKC bombing, the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing, the 1998 OBL fatwa, and the 2000 USS Cole bombing. The Progs were o-for-6 on those terrorist attacks, whereas the Bush administration policy has prevented any domestic terror attacks for 55 consecutive months. No Democratic president during the age of terrorism (1972 to present) can make that claim. That’s why there have been only two of them.

The guy responsible for desctruction of the 9/11 towers and 3000+ american dead, and Bush is to busy to do anything.

Under Bush we have taken the fight to the enemy, and they have been unable to attack us here at home. We have killed over 50,000 terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq, and more are dying every day. That’s not doing nothing - it’s doing the right thing. And you progs would never have fired a shot in anger.

In November 2004 61 million voters decided it was way too dangerous to give power to the Democrats. Nothing has changed since then. You progolodytes are silly, unserious, hypocritical whiners, and the American people know it. Keep up the good work.
